Oscar CHAN Yik Long Dave CHOW Yui Wang LAM Wing Sze Tiffany LAW How Tung LEE Sum Yi LI Hiu Wa Observe / Scrutinise / Perceive 23 June 2018 - 14 July 2018 Opening: Saturday, 23 June 2018, 4-7 pm In this exhibition the artists are observers of the ambience landscape. They yearn to capture the insignificant ephemeral moments of the surroundings, and tend to romanticise the scenes while gazing the daily scenery, such as trees by the train station, light reflection on the cable wire, inverted imagery outside windows, light beam of television, glaring streetlights and midnight nightmares. The seemingly mundane scenery is an epiphany of the inner landscape. Oscar Chan Yik Long (1988, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2011. His practice focuses on personal experiences through different media including installation, ceramics, and illustration, most of which are site-specific. The works explore conditions of life, and how individuals associate themselves with others. Dave CHOW Yui Wang (1993, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015. He is especially interested in the materiality and the physicality of objects. His works display and distill everyday experience through appropriating, transforming and assembling ready-made objects. Lam Wing Sze (1993, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015. Her practice mainly focuses on video art, perceiving and understanding the operation and order of the world from observation. Tiffany LAW How Tung (1994, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016. She seeks possibilities on drawing, resulting in emotionally charged lines, emphasising on the process of give and take. She observes landscapes and imaginaries that both exist physically. LEE Sum Yi (1994, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016. She specialises on sculpture, conceptual and installation art, and transforms materials through personal and repetitive daily experience. LI Hiu Wa (1991, Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2014. His practice of taking spontaneous photographs of daily life is influenced by the fascination with comic visual structure and found imageries. Related Articles: |
