BIOGRAPHY
1972 Born in Hong Kong 2006 Hong Kong Art School Currently lives and works in Hong Kong Lulu NGIE (b.1972, Hong Kong) graduated from Hong Kong Art School in 2006, majoring in painting. NGIE’s works follow a tradition in Chinese ink painting, Yi-bi. These visualisations of Chinese philosophy are part of her constant search for meaning. NGIE delights in studying the human psyche as expressed through a person’s body language: how we stand, sit, lie and move, however subtly, reveals what we think and feel. They contain no narrative. Instead, they are reflective of the painter’s mental state. Participated exhibitions include solo exhibition “Relax Until Distraction Comes” (Gallery EXIT, Hong Kong, 2019), “Fictitious Force” (Art Los Angeles Contemporary” (Los Angeles, 2018), “ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair 2016” (Gallery EXIT, Shanghai, 2016), “Day After Day After Day” (Gallery EXIT, Hong Kong, 2013), group exhibition “Deep Silence” (Hong Kong Arts Centre, Hong Kong, 2017) and “To Each, his zone” (Gallery EXIT, Hong Kong, 2016).
